White Point Beach, Nova Scotia |
Right There, Right Then
Low fog lessens over the horizon
as waves swell, crest, roll–
again and again and again.
A mesmerizing cadence
that gently transfixes
those who sit and settle
on the rocky beach.
Seaweed sways back and forth,
accompanied by the sumptuous sound
of salty liquid lapping onto land.
Feet sink into soft sand
as body eases,
mind lulls,
spirit widens.
Breath moves with shared energy
as ocean rhythms meld
with inner tempos.
Nothing to do
but be
Low fog lessens over the horizon
as waves swell, crest, roll–
again and again and again.
A mesmerizing cadence
that gently transfixes
those who sit and settle
on the rocky beach.
Seaweed sways back and forth,
accompanied by the sumptuous sound
of salty liquid lapping onto land.
Feet sink into soft sand
as body eases,
mind lulls,
spirit widens.
Breath moves with shared energy
as ocean rhythms meld
with inner tempos.
Nothing to do
but be
right there,
right then.
right then.

Your poem triggered a good memory. :) We stayed at White Point Beach back in Dec. 1991 - eons ago it seems. They had a "Lodge" there back then - very rustic - but we loved it with the "mesmerizing cadences" of the ocean, and the cold walks on the rocky beach. We loved Nova Scotia. Have ancestors from Digby, and Bear River on the west side from where White Point Beach is...
ReplyDeleteWonderful memories - thank you for sharing! We saw photos of the old lodge before it burned. It was beautiful.
DeleteOMG Didn't know it had burned!!! Did they rebuild?
DeleteYes. The original cabins are there and the new lodge is also beautiful, but not as rustic.
